Recently released free-agent DE Charles Johnson has scheduled visits with the New York Giants and the Tampa Bay Bucs. Johnson was released this past week by the Carolina Panthers after spending his first nine season with the Panthers, but was going into the final year of his contract, and the Panthers saved $11 million dollars on their salary cap by releasing Johnson.
Johnson has been a consistent DE his entire career with 63.5 sacks, 279 tackles and 16 forced fumbles. Johnson's career high in sacks came in 2012 when he recorded 12.5. However Johnson appears to be declining in his career, as his sacks have decreased each year since 2012, although he did spend half of the season in 2015 on IR. But in the nine games Johnson did play in in 2015, he only had 12 tackles and one sack.
