Carolina Panthers, Mike Tolbert Working on New Deal

The Carolina Panthers and fullback Mike Tolbert are working to get a deal done before free agency begins on Wednesday, Tolbert is set to become a free agent if no deal is completed.

Tolbert has been an important part of the Panthers offense since coming to the Panthers in 2012 from the San Diego Chargers as a free agent. In four years in Carolina, Tolbert has 13 rushing touchdowns and five receiving touchdowns, three of those coming in 2015 when he was an integral part of the Panthers short yardage game. And having Tolbert and QB Cam Newton both as options on short yardage and goal-line downs is almost impossible for opposing defenses to stop.

Tolbert and Jonathan Stewart form a formidable duo in the backfield for the Panthers and getting Tolbert re-signed is an important part to the offseason plan for the Panthers. Likewise, Tolbert has said that he wants to remain with the Panthers.
