ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that DE Charles Johnson, who was released from the Carolina Panthers last week, and after visiting the New York Giants and the Tampa Bay Bucs, says he is returning to Carolina.
Panther's WR Brenton Bersin also posted a tweet tonight seeming to confirm that Johnson in returning to the Panthers.
Johnson has said all along that he wanted to remain with the Panthers, and after visits with two other teams, it appears Johnson hasn't changed his mind and will agree to play for less money than his 2016 contracted salary would have paid him before his release.
This fills a big need for the Panthers, which I guess you could say, turned out to not be a need after all. But I would still expect the Panthers to look at some other DE's in free-agency, possibly Quinton Coples, or possibly draft a DE.
