2016 Carolina Panthers Outlook & Predictions

Taking a look at the 2016 NFC South and making predictions for each team.

(1) Carolina Panthers - The Panthers are coming off their best season in franchise history (15-1) and an appearance in Super Bowl 50. Although the Panthers came up short in the Super Bowl, they won't lose much of their dominance from the 2015 season. Carolina will open up the 2016 NFL season with a Thursday night rematch against their Super Bowl 50 opponent, the Denver Broncos, however it is a much different Bronco team from the team that bested the Panthers in February. Carolina will then host Arizona in Week 8 in an NFC Championship game rematch, and this could very well be the game that determines home-field advantage for the 2016-17 playoffs. Carolina has a tough stretch in Weeks 12 and 13 as they have back to back west coast trips to Oakland and Seattle respectively. Quarterback Cam Newton was named the best player in the NFL and linebacker Luke Kuechly was also in the top 10 at number seven. Newton will get his big number one receiver back in 2016, that will just add to the Panthers offense that lead the league in scoring at just over 31 points per game in 2015. Don't be surprised to see the Panthers lead the league in scoring once again in 2016. Defensively the Panthers lost all-pro cornerback Josh Norman, and will attempt to replace him with two rookies, which even for one of the elite defenses in the league will pose a challenge. However don't expect much drop off from the Panthers defense lead by Kuechly, Thomas Davis, Kawaan Short and Kurt Coleman.
