Projecting Cam Newton's stats for the 2016 season.
(PASSING) - Newton threw for over 3,000 yards and 35 touchdowns with receivers Ted's Ginn and Philly Brown as his starters. This year, Newton will get his main target Kelvin Benjamin back, and will have second year receiver Devin Funchess starting opposite him. Through in TE Greg Olsen (all three at least 6'5") and the speedsters in Ginn and Brown, with a formible offensive line to protect him, Newton could easily have his best year throwing the ball yet. Look for Newton to surpass the 4,000 yard mark in the yard, he could very well flirt with 5,000, and increase his total of 35 touchdown last year to 40+.
(RUSHING) I think the Panthers will try to not rely on Newton as much this season to get yards on the ground simply because rthey wont have too. In short yardage situation the Panthers have three big backs in Jonathan Stewart, Cameron Artis-Payne and Mike Tolbert. With the weapons at receiver added in, Newton won't have to be relied on as heavily. Most of Newton's rushing yards will come on scramble plays, however he will still get his share of rushing scores simply because of his size and overwhelming power inside the three yard line. Look for Newton to have around 450 rushing yards and eight touchdowns.
This Panthers offense is dangerous, and Newton makes in down right scary.
